After weeks and weeks of almost daily mail from my local GMC dealer because they knew it was time to replace my fleet vehicles for my business I got a phone call yesterday from the owner of the dealership. "Hey, wanted to give you a call, know it's time for your fleet replacement and I wanted to see what we need to do to put you in one of the "New GM" vehicles."
I explained to him that I would not be buying any GM vehicles. He wanted to know why and I explained to him that as a business owner, I have a responsibility. A responsibility to effectively manage my business well, to pay my employees a competitive wage, to buy my supplies at a fair and reasonable price and to provide quality service and a product better than my competition.
If I do not do those things, if I am not competitive, if, I pay more in wages than my competition, my business fails. That is the way Capitalism works. Those who are competitive and provide a quality product and service at a competitive price do well, those that do not, go under. That is the way American Capitalism works. I thanked him for his time and hung up.
That's is the way business in America worked, but not under Obama's brand of collective, government intervention, socialism. It is like PeeWee softball in the burbs, no one wins, no one loses, everyone plays and everyone gets a prize. That's not the real world. That is one of the reasons we are in the shape we are in as a country. There is no more personal responsibility. We are on our 3rd or 4th generation of welfare now. Parents train their kids on how to get Section 8, food stamps and disability. Our country is broken, dependent on Government to take care of us and under a Socialist like Obama he now wields more power than the founding fathers ever intended.
There were hundreds of car manufacturers in the 1920's, many of them built cars that were poorly made and were not what the buying public wanted and they went under. If Obama were president then, we would be bailing out several hundred car companies.
We used to have BETA and VHS, today they have been replaced by DVDs. Were Obama the president in the 1970s we would have bailed out the Betamax people to keep those jobs and help that union.
We have capitalism for the benefit of the consumer. Good products and good service combined with good management succeed, poor products, poor service and bad management FAIL. Well maybe I can't stop Obama from nationalizing much of this country but I can fight back with my pocketbook. So I buy 6 Toyota trucks instead of 6 GMC. I am still supporting American workers, they are built here. But I do not endorse socialism and its my protest vote against rewarding the lazy, the inefficient and the mismanaged in this country. Hopefully in 2012, sane people can gain control of the Democratic party and we can get off this far left, socialist path. Does anyone really believe that a "New GM' partially owned by the Federal Government will be any better run?
Mark my words in 12 months GM will be back in bankruptcy, this time for total liquidation and we the taxpayers LOSE again.
