JOSEPH CARI - 30-year friend of VP pick guilty in kickback scheme

No matter what help Barack Obama might get from Sen. Joseph Biden, his newly named vice presidential running mate won't give Obama much cover on the Tony Rezko front.

Biden has described himself as a 30-year friend of a key figure in the Rezko trial who's pleaded guilty to a federal extortion charge in Chicago and is awaiting sentencing.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

I have to wonder what the vetting committee was thinking? That this wouldnt be news. Makes you wonder if Binden "passed" what tehy found out on the other potential VP picks?

I mean bad enough Rezko gets sentenced next month but this Biden tie just really doesnt help Obama at all!

I know that I am wrong but I still suspect that Bayh did not accept the invitation and Biden was the last hope.

I think that Caroline Kennedy could be better. However, an Ambassorship is more palatable.

I think I know why Bayh didnt get it. Biden was clearly the last choice. I am beginning to wonder if tehre will be a floor fight for VP. The first night of teh convention, clearly eth clinton people werent applauding except two times, For Kennedy's speech and when Michelle Obam mentioned Clintons name. There was a lot of tension in that room.
